Leadership & Legacy
Sonnia and John Mahar, founders of Texas Specialty Metals, have dedicated their careers to the metals industry. Before founding Texas Specialty Metals, they owned and operated Metal Services, Inc. (MSI) in Dallas for nearly 30 years. Under their leadership, MSI expanded to five locations across Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado before becoming part of what is now the O’Neal Group.
John Mahar, a U.S. Army veteran and former Staff Sergeant, transitioned into the metals industry following his military service. His leadership extended beyond business operations, serving as Past President of the Steel Service Center Institute in Texas and as a board member of North Dallas Bank and Trust.
A Growing Future
Now leading the company into the future, John’s daughter, Kristie, serves as owner and CEO alongside Andy, Sales Manager. Under their leadership, they have expanded the company’s capabilities, doubled the workforce and strengthened operations.
Andy Dimock has been in the metal industry since 1990, holding roles at every level—from floor operations to executive leadership. Andy works to ensure the company’s commitment to exceptional customer service remains a top priority.
